I purchased this particular trackball because the white trackballs that I had ordered previously had poor quality control, so I wanted one where I knew I wasn't getting another one of the same messed up product.

I pried off the retaining ring with a paperclip, pulled the defective trackball out by touching the magnetic rollers with the end of the paperclip, and dropped the new one back in. All of my trackball problems were solved in 1 minute, without having to remove the faceplate.

This trackball performed flawlessly, although I failed to take into account the effect that the white backlighting would have on a translucent red ball: it turns it slightly more on the pink side than I would have liked, but it is still red enough that I haven't bothered to order a different color.

If you are particularly sensitive to a slightly pink hue then the red isn't for you: otherwise this product gets a shining review. -- Excellent performance but be aware of backlighting.

I bought this item thinking that it does not mater if it is not the OEM part but I was very wrong, after three days of use it started to get stuck, than it only moved vertically and at the end it stoped working all toghether, spend a little more and buy the OEM -- Not so good
